4 Key Facts About ICE, and What Could Happen If It’s Abolished
The Daily Signal’s Fred Lucas examines what would happen if Democrats were to get their wish and abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). One of the most overlooked consequences: “Minority communities would be disproportionately harmed,” according to a senior ICE official. “These minority communities are the primary victims now, because these individuals are involved in gang activity and other criminal activity and generally they commit those crimes against those in the same communities in which they reside,” Matthew T. Albence, ICE’s Executive Associate Director for Enforcement and Removal, told the Senate Judiciary Committee last month. Click here to read more.

“As I meet with small business owners all over the country as head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, I constantly hear about the real investments they’ve been making in their companies and their employees since the tax cuts took effect – raising wages, providing bonuses and benefits, and creating more jobs,”
SBA Administrator Linda McMahon writes in The Inquirer.

“After nearly two decades of strategically aimless military action in the Middle East, the Trump administration has apparently decided upon a new and smarter way to fight,” Michael Walsh writes in the New York Post. The President’s strategy entails “employing resurgent American economic power in the forms of tariffs, sanctions and trade deals.”

In The Hill, Job Creators Network President Alfredo Ortiz writes that thanks to President Trump’s tax cuts, American consumers feel better than ever about the economy. “The tax cuts mean that more money stays in communities and on Main Street, with less dollars shipped off to Washington. The latest indicators are just more proof of their resulting economic success.”

“The United States Senate would serve our country by confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaugh's immense qualifications and exemplary record alone should carry him to the bench,” Alaska State Senate President Pete Kelly and former Alaska State Sen. Cathy Giessel write in Anchorage Daily News. “The President upheld his campaign promise; that's why we have Justice Neil Gorsuch, and why Judge Kavanaugh stands ready to join him.”

The life-saving missions of ICE

The Day Ahead

President Donald J. Trump hosts a Salute to the Heroes of ICE and CBP, recognizing the dangerous, important work of America’s border officers. Watch live at 3 p.m. ET.
The life-saving missions of ICE
From saving victims from human smugglers, drug cartels, and criminal gangs to protecting American citizens from crime spilling across our border, President Trump understands the dangerous conditions our border officers face each day. To show his appreciation for their service, the President will highlight the life-saving missions of these heroes today in an event at the White House.
Even with widespread public support for ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement), many Democrats have embraced the previously fringe position that the agency should be abolished. A recent POLITICO/Morning Consult poll revealed that even with the left’s recent push, only a quarter of Americans want ICE eliminated.
The heroes who protect our borders are a vital piece of our national security. Getting rid of ICE would be devastating to the safety of American families, particularly those living in communities across the Southwestern United States. Our border officers are the first line of defense for these vulnerable Americans: During the 2017 fiscal year, ICE arrested more than 127,000 aliens with criminal convictions or charges.
President Trump promised that he would secure our borders and keep our communities safe. Today, he is honoring the public servants who risk it all to help achieve that.
Watch a Salute to the Heroes of ICE and CBP live at 3 p.m. ET.

The far left turns desperate on Judge Kavanaugh

As Judge Brett Kavanaugh continues to draw rave reviews from the legal community and those who know him best, a few liberal Democrats are grasping at straws in their attempt to discredit his nomination.
In National Review, David French highlights one particularly desperate—and shoddy—attempt, assisted by The New York Times. “There is no indication at all that the Times reached out to one of the key players in this whole drama,” French explains. “The Times got comment from [Democratic Senators] Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein, but not from a key witness.”“So I picked up the phone and called him,” French writes. “Once again, the Left has taken a swing at one of the most qualified SCOTUS nominees in history. Once again, it has missed.”

The Day Ahead
Visiting Missouri, President Donald J. Trump will speak at the national convention for the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Watch live at 12:30 p.m. ET. .
Three words: Made in America
Boots from Texas, snowboards from Colorado, F-150 trucks from Michigan, and baseball bats from Pennsylvania—yesterday, products proudly made in the United States were on full display at President Trump’s second annual “Made in America” exhibit at the White House. American manufacturing is back, as yesterday’s event showed the world. Nearly 350,000 manufacturing jobs have been created since President Trump took office, and surveys show that optimism among U.S. manufacturers recently hit an all-time high. “Our leaders in Washington did nothing—they did nothing. They let our factories leave. They let our people lose their jobs,” President Trump said. “That’s not free trade. That’s fool’s trade,” the President added.  America can do better—and it has. As a first order of business, President Trump is renegotiating past trade deals to benefit American workers. That tough line has already paid off: The Administration secured key changes to America’s trade agreement with South Korea, which includes provisions to increase U.S. automobile exports.
